What to ask at your consultation
A provider who is comfortable with these questions is a good sign.
- Is the person treating me licensed in Pennsylvania, and for what?
- How much experience do they have with this treatment?
- What is the name of the device or product, and is it the one I will get every time?
- What does a full series look like from start to finish?
- What should I do at home in the days after treatment?
- If I have a reaction, who do I call, and when?
- Can you give me the total cost in writing?
What a provider will want to know
Expect questions about your health, so have the answers ready:
- Medical conditions and recent illnesses.
- Prescription medications, supplements and topical products.
- Allergies and sensitivities.
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Previous cosmetic treatments.
Then add your own list of questions, such as who will perform the treatment and what the total cost will be. A licensed provider uses this information to decide what is suitable for you.
Signs to slow down
Most providers are happy to answer questions and give you time. Be careful if you notice any of these:
- Pressure to book or pay that same day.
- No consultation before treatment.
- Vague answers about who will perform the treatment.
- Unwillingness to put the cost in writing.
You can look up a license with the Pennsylvania state board that covers that profession. If something feels off, it is fine to walk away.
